Normally, I first summarize my adventures in making music. Lately, I have been composing tracks for the Disquiet Junto, the Naviar Records Haiku Music Challenge and, this year for the first time, Weekly Beats. I also have other projects and collaborations I will share occasionally (like today!).

In the recent past, I also brought together the perspective I shared in posts on social media (currently Mastodon) about the music industry in the section: Music + Tech + Law.

However, I did not do that this week and only shared posts about music that I made. I am not sure what next week holds for the Music + Tech + Law section, but I am reconsidering whether I want to keep making those types of posts, or whether I want to do something different.

My Music

My new post-rock instrumental band, Coral Ghost, released its first single on May 31, 2024! The band features me on drums and my friend Tim on guitars. Please give us a listen! Choose your preferred music service below.

For Weekly Beats, this track is more ambient than my other recent submissions have been and there are no percussive elements. Essentially I just found pads and keyboard sounds that I felt worked well together in Ableton Note. I have been working more on my iPad recently because I have found the most consistent timeframe for working on music lately has been late at night before bed. I am not fond of working with my laptop while lying down, but I do like propping my iPad up and getting some work done on music before drifting off to sleep. That has also informed the style of music I have been working on lately because I find it easier to work on ambient tracks late at night or early in the morning regardless of my energy level.
