Each week, I have been summarizing my adventures in making music. Lately, I have been composing tracks for the Disquiet Junto, the Naviar Records Haiku Music Challenge and, this year for the first time, Weekly Beats. I also have other projects and collaborations I have shared occasionally. This blog primarily contains slightly annotated posts originally found on Mastodon.
I scrambled to finish this one because I was on a trip during the week. I only had my iPad with me and very little time to myself, but I still managed to stay up late one night to find some samples on BandLab Sounds. I imported them into Ableton Note and spread them out across Drum Racks. It is a cumbersome way to chop up samples, but it works. I got some basic patterns together so that when I got home to my computer I was able to mix and arrange it quickly. I uploaded a version earlier in the day on Sunday and made the fatal mistake of listening to it before the deadline that night, so I was back at my computer for yet another week finishing at the very end of the submission period. It is okay, though, I am happy with how the song turned out - considering how little time I spent on it.
